Lenten Bible Study 2026

Join Our Church-Wide Lenten Bible Study: Jesus Asking

This Lent, we invite everyone at Saint Paul to take part in our church-wide Lenten Bible Study, Jesus Asking by J. D. Walt. Over six weeks, this study will guide us through the questions Jesus asked throughout the Gospels—inviting us to slow down, reflect deeply, and grow in faith together.

In addition to the small-group conversations, this study includes a daily devotional book designed to guide you through the forty days of Lent. The devotional can be used alongside a group or as part of an individual Lenten practice.

To make participation accessible, we are offering several small-group options meeting at different times throughout the week:

Small Group Options (6-Week Study):

  • Sundays at 10:00 AM – Women’s Small Group Led by Mary Ellis, Begins February 15
  • Sundays at 10:00 AM – Men’s Small Group Led by Pastor Tim Fitch, Begins February 15
  • Sundays at 10:00 AM – Youth Small Group Led by Hadley & Bennett Johnson, Begins February 15
  • Thursdays at 7:30 AM – Men’s Thursday Morning Small Group Led by Rev. Jim Harry, Begins February 19
  • Thursdays at 7:00 PM – Thursday Night Small Group Led by Rev. Jim Harry, Begins February 19

If you are unable to attend one of these times, we encourage you to consider forming and leading an additional small group that fits your schedule. Teaching resources for group leaders are available—please contact the Church Office for more information.

Even if you are not able to join a small group, everyone is welcome to participate by following along with the daily devotional book as part of their personal Lenten journey.

Study books will be available at the Welcome Center and in the Church Office.

This 6-week Lenten Bible Study, Jesus Asking by J. D. Walt, is a thoughtful and transformative journey through the questions Jesus asked throughout the Gospels.

Did you know that Jesus asked more than 300 questions, yet directly answered only three? What if, instead of rushing to find more answers, we slowed down to ask better questions? Jesus Asking invites us into that holy pause. Over the forty days of Lent, J. D. Walt weaves Scripture and story together, guiding us toward the cross by exploring what he calls the Question of All Questions: “Who do you say that I am?”

Through three simple yet profound questions passed down by his mentor, this study helps awaken faith, deepen our walk with Jesus, and train us in the art of asking questions that open us to the answers only God can reveal.

We hope you’ll join us as we journey through Lent together—asking deeper questions and listening for God’s voice along the way.
